It's nice to read that others experience the same problem I reported 3 weeks ago. I still haven't heard anything from Adobe about this, though. There is something wrong with Bridge, especially 13.0.2.636. Bridge has been dodgy since last year, too many fancy things added with too little focus on a program for professionals.

Of course I can manage to download images manually. But once when Bridge recognises my camera I am able to rename my image files with a specific date - due to the photo downloader interface. This isn't possible anymore and it's quite a nuisance. Now I have to rename all my images by hand.

I did a clomplete reset of Bridge to see if that was causing the problem. But no. CF cards still work fine, but SD cards show EOS_Digital #1 and EOS_Digital #2. No difference if I "refresh the list". The only difference is that both EOS_Digital #1 and EOS_Digital #2 show the same amount of files on the card now. I've formatted and re-formatted my SD cards using different cameras but the problem is still the same. No difference if I use SD cards formatted in 5D Mk III, Mk IV, EOS R or EOS R5.

Ditto, with SDXC cards from a Sony a7R4a. Untitled#1 and Untitled#2 - both contain the same files with identical file lengths. Finder sees only one copy of each image in the subfolder structure. MOST annoying. MacOS Monteray 12.6.3 and Bridge v13.0.3.693. I'll update the OS today.

While I know that I can remove the SD card from the camera and use a card reader to copy images to the PC, I have been trying to do that from the camera directly. Each time I do so, I encounter a problem.

My Windows 10 PC has no problem detecting the camera (camera set to "Media" mode), and Windows File Explorer allows me to drill down into the DCIM folder containing 5 4K videos, each ranging from 200KB to 5GB in size. The problem occurs when I try to copy the videos to my PC. The process immediately fails with an "Unspecified error". I've tried the following variations:

I am having a similar problem with HFR700. I have been able to upload for the past three years, but now I cannot upload videos recorded after April 2018. This includes videos that I have previously uploaded. The folders are present (visible in explorer), but it says they are empty. I can view the videos on the camera. I have not changed anything formatting wise, and the card has not been removed from the camera. The Canon software shows the images with question marks, and says "Failed to import images" when I select Import. When I select an older recording (April 2018 or before), it will import.

Your issue is actually different. Not only is your camera a different model, but your issue "?" on the files instead of seeing a thumbnail indicates a different problem. The question mark, means the camera cannot read the file. This can be a problem with the card itself, its formatting or corrupt files.

Greetings, I grabbed the G50 manual late last night to research this. It states you should put the SD card in a reader to transfer clips and files to a computer. From experience however, I have dragged, copy or pasted files from other devices using "media" or "playback" modes in windows which basically detects them as a mass storage device. So I realize this is the behavior you were expecting.

I've had my G50 for a year, but only recorded at 1920 to match my other cameras. I just recorded my first longer videos in 4K and was experiencing the same issue. I used a card reader and was able to successfully transfer files that were around 35 GB. With the camera connected to the computer with USB, Windows was only recognizing a max file size of 3.99 GB and giving an error immediately when attempting to transfer files that were larger than 3.99 GB.

Check out the attached screenshot. Basically I want to map the view from Camera A onto the cube and plane seen by camera B. I want to this be dynamic so that as I work on the scene in front of Camera A, the texture on the objects changes accordingly.

A friend of mine who has a popular tiktok account (90k) told me that you shouldn't upload camera roll videos on TikTok since they don't do as well. As a youtuber, I have a full setup with a dslr, ring light, mic, etc., so I can have much higher quality videos if I upload from camera roll. However, my friend tells me amateur recorded videos do better, and that they should be recorded within the tiktok app for better optimisation. I was wondering if any of yall have experienced anything similar and what you'd recommend.

When I connect my canon camera to the mac via usb, the photo app is stuck on 'uploading x photos'. It used to upload very quickly and now it just stays on 'uploading' and the status doesn't change, even if I leave it overnight. Please help as I'm not sure what to do and now can't get my photos off my camera.

I had this problem right from the start of Photos for Mac and contacted support. They tried all the troubleshooting steps and then said they could get the same issue on their computer. It got escalated to the engineers in the USA and I eventually heard back that it was a "reproducible worldwide" problem, that is a bug. I'm disappointed that after three months they haven't fixed it but we can only wait for an update or fix from Apple itself.

The only way round it is to open the SD card folder that appears on your desktop when you connect your camera. Select all of the images you want to copy onto your Mac. Then drag them to the Photos icon in the dock. It works but it's not ideal and nowhere near as good as iPhoto's import.

a best practise is to never have Photos delete the photos and after they are tested and backed up on the Mac then reformat the card in the camera - this keeps the format fresh and extends the card's life

thanks for the reply. It's very frustrating. What I am doing in the interim is I've gone back to using iPhoto (rather than photo software). it seems to import correctly and fast in iPhoto's. I ended up importing all new photos (which included some that were already imported successfully in the Photos software) so I might have imported some duplicate photos but at least iphotos works and I can get the pics off my camera.

How do you transfer photos directly from camera to external hard drive? I have an Iomega external hard drive and am happy with it so far. Will probably need to get another external- so am open to suggestions. I have Canon EOS 7d.

Any USB device, compliant with USB mass storage protocol, like Card Reader, Pen Drive, External Hard Drive, Voice Recorder, MP3 Player, Digital Camera, PDA, Image Tank, X's Drive........ are compatible
Non PC to work- PC Free Application
Copy date from Source port to Target port
Mini Size- Easy to carry and to go everywhere

I do not like it, because it means having a cable dangling from the camera and a hard drive exposed to the environment. If you drop the hard drive, get wet, or loose the cable connection, you risk damaging the hard drive or halting the process of writing from the camera buffer to the hard drive. At least on the 1D, if the external connection is interrupted, the process of writing to the CF card also stops. When the price of CF media is so cheap, it is better to buy a memory card that is more durable than a hard drive, in addition to being smaller and much more lightweight.

If you mean without computer (laptop or PC) then it will be harder as both the camera and the external drive are designed to be just a slave of another device (PC) and not capable of directing another device.

All in my humble opionion of course!

First, some background. I use Apple computers and mobile devices only, so I have no experience with the Android OS, and only minimal familiarity with Windows. Anyone familiar with iPad is well aware that the idea of transferring data from the iPad to an external USB drive is only a pipe dream, as no version of iPad is equipped with a USB or mini USB port (a USB adaptor is available, but the range of external devices that iPad will recognize is restricted, and certainly does not include USB storage devices). So, I searched Google using the phrase "Tablet computers with USB port." Nice, it seems that virtually all Android and Windows tablets have at least a mini USB port. Then, I queried something like "connecting a USB hard drive to Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T210," which led to an interesting post (23 Aug 2013, user damnnew) on a forum at a tablet developer's website (xda-developers.com): SM-T210 or SM-T210R "doesn't support 'host mode' which is quite frustrating for those who like to plug in their USB devices"...but, "Galaxy Tab 2.7.0 does support this feature." This gave me a glimmer of hope, so I kept browsing. I next watched a YouTube video in which user "AndroidFixation" demonstrates that a Samsung Galaxy USB adaptor kit works well with a flash drive, but not with a USB hard drive (the attached HD is recognized by the tablet, but it does not mount the device and allow access to its contents). Next, I don't recall how, I landed at the support site for users of Toshiba tablets ( =3462040), where I found the following:

The important point to note is that here's a tablet manufacturer that's providing its users with explicit technical information on how to connect an external USB hard drive to its tablets. Presumably, if Toshiba supports this, then it must also be possible to access the attached hard drive for data transfer - otherwise, why bother? Toshiba makes many different tablets, some that use Android and others that use Windows. I don't know if the information above applies to both operating systems on Toshiba tablets, or only one. Nor do I know if the simply remedy of merely connecting an external USB hard drive that has been properly formatted is also the missing link for doing the same with tablets from other manufacturers. This will require further investigation. But in the meantime, it is reassuring to know that there seems to be at least one legitimate (manufacturer sanctioned and supported) solution to this problem.
