Hey thanaks for this, but recently when updates my windows to 1709 version, whenever i open any photo in Windows Photo Viewer, its taking almost 5-10 sec to open the photo. I got this issue earlier too than formatted my PC. Please help me with it.
hi,
none of this method works for me. I recently had my laptop formatted. and windows 10 was directly installed. windows photo viewer is available in open with but not as default app. please help me.
The Windows Photo Viewer app has been part of the Windows NT package since the inception of Windows 2003. It has a user-friendly interface which makes it easy to use or navigate. One would say it was a rude awakening when users discovered they couldn't access the windows photo viewers app in Windows 10. Yes, the beloved app was ditched in favor of the Photo App, which has more editing gestures than the previous one.
You can create new string values by right-clicking on the space on the right-hand side of the window. Select "New" and click on "String value." Now, name a new string value as .jpeg. Double click it and affix its value data to the photo viewer.FileAssoc.Tiff. So, whenever you right-click on a jpeg file, the Windows Photo Viewer will appear in the "Open With" menu.

Ok me too thank you thanks, thank you and thank you again and again, But can somebody address the issue of printing within the photo viewer? I guess not so be happy to just get back the old photo viewer with only viewing function. so thank you thank you if you could come up with something that gives full functionality like templates for printing multi pictures on one page like the old windows 7 photo viewer? if you find a solution to that I give a penny for your thoughts.
Thank you very much for this! Even though you would expect everything in windows 10 to be an upgrade, it is not the case. In fact the windows 10 photos app is very blurry compared to windows photo viewer.
yes it worked as far as viewing only but how do I print either single or multiple photos from there? when pressing print it should comes up with various template just like windows 7 right? wrong. because you will get an internal error occurred message and you wont get the windows 7 like dialogue to give you templates options how many pictures you want to print or even to print a single sheet is not possible. so really not that useful unless someone could come up with a method to fully functionalise the photo viewer in windows 10.
All good but it doesnt give you full functionality such as printing like windows 7 machine which even gives templates to print multiple photos on one a4 paper or even a single image print doesnt work. I am looking for a proper solution to regain full functionality of the photo viewer in particular printing. Any ideas please??
Upgraded from Windows 8.1, the Windows photo viewer does not work properly as before. In slideshow mode, the photos are enlarged showing only part of it, not fitting the screen. Any idea to fix it. Search but found no solution.
We have a batch of new workstations with Window10 LTSB 1607 installed, and some particular users have requested to have Photos App deployed. I've tried to have the Photos App installed with Windows 10 in-box apps ISO, same as the method described in this post: -how-to-add-windows-10-apps-back-with-powershell. However, in my case the Photos app was installed, but it's not working properly. When Photos icon is clicked, the application will hang, and in Windows Event viewer I can see the app is complaining about activation (activation of application photos app 0x8024402c). And of course, these workstations are not internet connected.

I have a photo that shows mostly black colors. I edited it in PS, assigned the sRGB profile and saved it as JPG. It looks great within Lr, PS and through any browser but I tried 10 different apps for Windows 10 and the black are so black that there is barely any detail visible. Is there a color-managed photo viewer for Windows 10?
With that if you want a color managed photo viewer, you'll need to look third party like Adobe Photoshop, LR, Bridge, ACDsee or any other photo editing program with the capability of being color managed. These (color managed photo viewers) are not included in Windows 10.
And if you edited your files in Photoshop and want to view them in a color managed environment, why not use Adobe Bridge? It actually is a very powerful "photo viewer"; as well as photo manager, and editor.
I'm pretty sure this is an issue with how windows photoviewer handles the print job. We started experiencing issues printing large numbers of photos (jpg) with multiple photos per page (4) when we moved to windows 7.
I have this simple line to launch a jpg using windows Photos, ShellExecute($DisplayPhoto1[0]) (The variable is a path to a jpg). Windows did that stupid update a couple nights ago and ever since then every time this executes the window pops up asking what app I want to use to open the file. I select the Photos app and check the always use this app, but even though I check the always use this app, this window keeps coming up. Now if I go and click a jpg file directly, the image opens up in Photos without any issue. What has happened? What can I do to fix or work around this? And no, I can't do a windows roll back because for some reason all of my windows recovery points were wiped out even though I have over 200G of free space smh.
