[CFP] HASOC: Hate Speech and Offensive Content Identification at FIRE 2024

We are excited to announce the 6th edition of HASOC, consisting of various interesting shared tasks. We invite you to participate in the same. HASOC 2024 will offer two classification tasks. It will focus on the identification of hate and offensive language in English and Bangla. The first task mainly focuses on the binary classification of hate speech in the English language.

Task 1: Binary Classification in English: 

Task 1 focused on hate speech and offensive language identification is offered for English. It is a coarse-grained binary classification in which participants are required to classify tweets into two classes, namely: hate and offensive (HOF) and non-hate and offensive (NOT). Only Test dataset are provided for task 1.

Task-2: Code-mixed classification in Bangla:

Task 2 is based on OLID taxonomy with minor modifications. Task 2 has two subtasks. Subtask 2A  focused on hate speech and offensive language identification  in code-mixed Bangla.  It is a coarse-grained binary classification in which participants are required to classify tweets into two classes, namely: hate and offensive (HOF) and non-hate and offensive (NOT). 

Subtask 2B further categorizes Offensive posts in subatask 2A are divided into three categories:

  • Individual: comments targeting any individual, such as mentioning a person with his/her name, unnamed participants, or famous personality.
  • Group: Comments targeting any group of people of common characteristics, religion, gender, etc
  • Untargeted: Comments containing unacceptably strong language or profanities that are not targeted.

  • Registration and Training Data Release: July 4, 2024 
  • Release of the test set: August 1, 2024
  • Run submission deadline: August 8, 2024
  • Announcement of results: August 15, 2024
  • Working notes due:  September 15, 2024
  • Camera-ready copies of notes and overview paper: October 15, 2024

Hej HASOC Organizer,

I have a question regarding the training data for this task. You will not provide the training data; is this correct? You only provide the test data in August. Did I understand this right?
