2025 census - current captain's list and info

Hi all, we've spent some time refining the captain's list but since some of you have been asking for it, here is what we currently have:

Avon - Brian Toal

Bloomfield - Linda Clancy

Canton - Jay Kaplan

East Hartford - Debi Wheeler

Granby - John Weeks

Manchester - Maggie Peretto

Newington - Lisa Lukawicz

Simsbury - Doug Beach

South Windsor - Paul Desjardins

Suffield - Art Sikes

West Hartford - Helen Rubino Turco

Wethersfield - Steve Kotchko

Windsor - Mike Whittlesey

Any other town not listed here is open.  We hope to have a captain for Glastonbury but that is TBD currently.  If interested, please let Doug Beach or I know.  Doug is now the chair but I'm still helping out while he gets up to speed.  The only real requirement is that the town be in Hartford County.

The census runs from April 26 (this Saturday!) through May 18.  The first of the warblers has arrived and folks have been seeing a number of other colorful goodies locally over the past few days.  Lingering waterfowl may be hard to come across but currently other soon to depart species like juncos and white-throated sparrows are still around.  as the period starts almost as early as it can this year, maybe those birds will be reported in above average numbers this year.  Time will tell!
