Hi all,

Congratulations to our new members: Daniel Casanueva, Jaro Reinders, Jeff Young, Marc Scholten, Philip Hazelden and Teo Camarasu. I hope you’ll enjoy your time at CLC.

Me, Tom and Melanie are outgoing, while Josh, Julian, Matt and Moritz are continuing their tenure.

Before I finally bow out, could the active members please select a new chair? Do we have any volunteers?

There are little to no privileges and only responsibilities associated with this role, so historically it was not hotly contested and we’ve been scrambling to find at least one volunteer. If we get unexpectedly lucky this time, the active members shall have a brief vote.

While every CLC member is supposed to contribute to active and constructive discussions of proposals, a chair is expected to see things through: to push stalled proposals (either to a vote or closing them), to conduct and tabulate votes, to communicate with GHC when necessary + other admin and maintenance. None of this is full-time job though and plenty can be potentially delegated.

Best regards,
Andrew

Hello everyone.

Being new here, I think I won't be volunteering for chair this time.

Best,
Daniel

Although I'm worried to take on too much responsibility, I'd be willing to volunteer, unless someone else is super excited about it.

I think I could handle the process part well, but watching GHC HQ to merge things correctly, not break base API etc. needs more pairs of eyes. From what I understand, we now have GHC dev folks here, so I hope they could assist in that case.

I’d be happy to be Julian’s sidekick. I’ve also considered stepping forward, but I don’t think I have enough time to do the role properly by myself.

HI all,

Nice to be here. I'm in the same boat as Daniel, but I also don't have the bandwidth for more responsibility (I'm chairing a workshop at ICFP this year too). But Moritz or Julian would be my picks for chair. They both have been in the trenches, have worked across the ecosystem for years and have good engineering instincts that I trust.

+1 for Julian and Moritz, that's a great pairing.

Hi folks,

Julian and Moritz chairing sounds good to me.

I'd be happy to help with keeping an eye on the GHC side of things.

Cheers,

Hi all, happy to be here!

There are some names here I recognize, but for the most part I don't have a good sense of who anyone is yet. But yes, +1 to Julian and Moritz.

I definitely like the idea of having a co-chair, and I think Julian and Moritz are great picks.

Julian, Moritz, I think I granted you all necessary permissions now. Please update https://github.com/haskell/core-libraries-committee to reflect new CLC cast and update groups as described in the last paragraph of “Elections” section.

And now my watch is over. Thanks all, it’s been an amazing journey. Cheers to my fellow outgoing members, Tom and Melanie. Best of luck to the new crew :)

Best regards,
Andrew

Thanks to Andrew for his stewardship of the CLC over the last few
years, and to Melanie for her service too. Welcome to the new
members! Thank you for standing up to help oversee this vital part of
our community.
