Hi Andrew,
I guess I have no objection.

Subject: Status of transformers package

Hi Ross,
There’ve been recently some community questions about the status of `transformers` package. It is a boot package (= needed to build GHC itself), but not a core package (= is not under the aegis of Core Libraries Committee). There is a slow, but ongoing effort to make all boot packages also core packages. How do you feel about it? The point is to have means to deal with a single-point-of-failure problem in case of your unavailability (hopefully for good reasons), so that CLC is able to provide additional / emergency maintenance.
Designating a library as a core package does not impose much on your day-to-day operations as a maintainer. CLC does not interfere with daily development of Core Libraries as long as appointed maintainers keep them in an appropriate shape and support healthy communication with contributors. You can find the full policy at

Andrew
