Hi folks,

I'm happy to announce the results of the CLC election and welcome the new and returning members of the committee:
- Matt Parsons
- Wolfgang Jeltsch
- Rick Owens

Existing CLC members should have received an email with the full results from OpaVote.

I will be updating the relevant group memberships shortly.

I wanted to thank Julian for all his work for the CLC. It takes a lot of work to keep the proposal process going and I think he's done an excellent job and has continually been a voice advocating for stability in the community.

I am currently co-chair and I would be happy to continue and take on the responsibilities of chair.
It would be great if other people would also like to co-chair with me, which would split the work amongst a few people.
The role mainly consists of watching the CLC/GHC repos and making sure that thing move along according to the proposal process. Please reply if you are interested.

Cheers,
Teo

Thanks all!

If there's anything left wrt keys and maintenance, feel free to ping me.

Also, while I'm in no position to vote anymore, I'm confident in Teo's
engagement and ability as a chair.

I'm happy we found 2 new excellent members with Wolfgang and Rick. And
of course the re-elected Matt, whose expertise is invaluable.

Before I leave, I want to remind everyone of our mission as I personally
understand it: making the base contribution process as smooth as
possible while scrutinizing every proposal exhaustively. This surely
isn't an easy task, especially when the changes are radical or the topic
contentious.

That's why it's also useful to occasionally remind each other of our
etiquette and shared values:

-
https://github.com/haskell/core-libraries-committee?tab=readme-ov-file#etiquette
-
https://github.com/haskell/core-libraries-committee?tab=readme-ov-file#our-values

Staying engaged is sometimes hard and at times I was wondering if people
are reluctant to ask "dumb questions" or throw out unfinished thoughts.
My opinion is that no one should be worried about that. Everyone has a
different focus and sometimes understanding the context alone isn't
easy. That's why the CLC is a team. No one should feel judged because
they misunderstood something.

I hope you all enjoy your terms!

Cheers,
Julian

Thanks for the warm welcome! I’m honored to be elected and excited to get to work with the rest of the committee. Congratulations to Matt and Wolfgang as well.

I'll echo Wolfgang's sentiment: If you would like to learn more about me or my background, I'm happy to chat!

Rick
