Hello Hartford Audubon Members, 

For those interested in attending, this is a reminder to register for tickets to the Tuesday, October 21, 2025 Trinity College Special Event: Watkinson Library's World of Ornithology: Birds, Books, and Art.

Over half the tickets have now been claimed and in a few days we will make the remaining spots available to the bird & art loving public. If you know of someone who would like to attend, feel free to forward this email. 

A ZOOM invitation will be sent out close to the event for those that want to watch remotely.  A ticket is not required if you are planning on watching via zoom.

Hartford Audubon Society & Watkinson Library Present  Watkinson Library’s World of Ornithology: Birds, Books, and Art Explore the fascinating world of birds through rare books and art at this Hartford Audubon Society & Watkinson Library partnered event! Directions to Event & Parking The Watkinson is located on Level A of the Raether Library and Information Technology Center.  Tuesday, October 21, 2025 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Social Hour & Book Viewing (with refreshments) book and art viewing (includes refreshments). Trinity College’s Watkinson Library is home to one of the most remarkable collections of ornithological books among US academic institutions. The collection is not only extensive but has several rare and invaluable books that have helped shaped the world of ornithology 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Speakers: Watkinson Library’s World of Ornithology: Birds, Books, and Art Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Sir Gerard Ramsawak and Dr. Christina Bleyer, a special evening of viewing and discussion has been arranged exclusively for members and friends of the Hartford Audubon Society. The evening’s speakers include: Dr. Christina Bleyer, Director of Special Collections and Archives, Watkinson Library, will provide an overview of the Watkinson Library and its collections. Dr. Eric Johnson-DeBaufre, Rare Books and Special Collections Librarian, Watkinson Library will highlight some of the library’s most unique and historically significant ornithological volumes. Sir Gerard Ramsawak, art collector and artist, will share insights into John James Audubon’s Birds of America. Mr. Don Carter and Ms. Dora Dylanne Reyes, graphic artists, will showcase their works of art inspired by Audubon’s illustrations.
