Hi Everyone - This message is both a reminder about the upcoming Saturday morning birding walk at Greenstone Hollow, the Hartford Audubon property in East Granby, and an invitation to come and enjoy the property, either on the walk or on your own.  Following the walk, folks are also invited to stop by the nearby East Granby Library to view my photographic exhibit, “It’s a Wonderful World” - 85 photographs from all over our country and the world.

First the walk this Saturday.
We’ll meet at 8am by the first entrance with the big sign “Greenstone Hollow”.  At the moment, it appears that the weather will be in the 60’s with clouds giving way to sunshine.  The trails are well mowed, and comfortable walking shoes should be fine.  You might want to bring bug spray and some water.  The address that will take you there in your GPS is 31 Ridge Blvd.  It’s also listed in Google Maps if you just search for Greenstone Hollow.  This walk is both an introduction to the property for those that are not familiar with it as well as looking for fall migrants and resident birds.  We’ll see what we can find!

Second a few pictures of the north part of the property that many people never get to see.  All these pictures are from beyond the bridge which marks the start of the Old Apple Tree Trail.

I just finished mowing yesterday and so it is a wonderful spot for a fall walk, even if you’re not looking for birds.  There’s a map posted right near the entrance with an easy picture to record on your phone.  If you follow the central trails (Kinglet Woods Trail and Old Apple Tree Trail) all the way back to the apple tree and turn right, you’ll come to this intersection.  Staying to the right takes you to one of my favorite spots - “The Willow Wander”.

Following that path will bring you to………….

……..a nice bench and a beautiful are for enjoying the birds.

This view is along the Old Apple Tree Trail.

Here we are at Wild Acres Overlook, an open spot along the Old Apple Tree Trail.

This bench is a pleasant place to relax and enjoy the North Meadow Overlook.

There’s also a bench at the South Meadow Overlook.

Hope to see you there Saturday morning.
