The collection is not only extensive but has several rare and invaluable books that have helped shaped the world of ornithology

Speakers: Watkinson Library’s World of Ornithology: Birds, Books, and Art

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Sir Gerard Ramsawak and Dr. Christina Bleyer, a special evening of viewing and discussion has been arranged exclusively for members and friends of the Hartford Audubon Society. The evening’s speakers include: Dr. Christina Bleyer, Director of Special Collections and Archives, Watkinson Library, will provide an overview of the Watkinson Library and its collections. Dr. Eric Johnson-DeBaufre, Rare Books and Special Collections Librarian, Watkinson Library will highlight some of the library’s most unique and historically significant ornithological volumes. Sir Gerard Ramsawak, art collector and artist, will share insights into John James Audubon’s Birds of America. Mr. Don Carter and Ms. Dora Dylanne Reyes, graphic artists, will showcase their works of art inspired by Audubon’s illustrations.

Please do not sign up for tickets if you will not be attending in person. HAS and Trinity are working to make this available by ZOOM. A link will be sent via the ALLHAS email and posted to the HAS website in October.
