Irene Davis, PhD, PT, FAPTA, FACSM received a BS in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts, a BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Florida, an MEd in Biomechanics from the University of Virginia and a PhD in Biomechanics from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Davis is the Director of the Spaulding National Running Center, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Harvard Medical School. Her areas of study include biomechanical factors associated with gait related injuries such as knee osteoarthritis, tibial stress fractures and patellofemoral disorders. She has been investigating ways to retrain faulty gait patterns associated with these conditions with the use of real-time biomechanical feedback. She has received funding from the Department of Defense, Army Research Office and National Institutes of Health to support her research in these areas. Dr. Davis has presented over 300 lectures nationally and internationally and authored over 100 papers on the topic of lower extremity mechanics and injuries. She is a named Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association, as well as of the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Davis is a Past-President of the American Society of Biomechanics. She has been featured on ABC World News Tonight, Good Morning America, Discovery Channel, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
