THE ORIGIN OF HARTLEYS SCHOOL

NOW THAT YOU ALL ARE ORGANIZING A  GRAND REUNION OF PAST AND PRESENT STUDENTS AND TEACHERS.IT WOULD BE  INTERESTING TO KNOW HOW THE SCHOOL STARTED

WAY BACK IN THE THIRTIES.MR. EG HARTLEY A OFFICER IN THE POLICE TOOK 11/4 SARAT BOSE RD ON RENT AND SETTLED DOWN WITH HIS FAMILY OF 2 SONS... EA HARTLEY AND OA HARTLEY AND A DAUGHTER I KNEW AS MRS B. WILKS. MR EA HARTLEY MARRIED A SCHOOL TEACHER OF LORETO .BOTH OF THEM STARTED  TUTION CLASSES IN A SHED[ LP CLASSES] ,AND STARTED  2 SCHOOLS. MISS B. WILKS NURSERY SCHOOL AND MRS.B, HARTLEY PRIVATE SCHOOL,

LATER ON MR O.A.HARTLEY MARRIED MISS PHYLISS VALIENT.  A TEACHER IN LORETO[[HERCLASS MATE WAS MOTHER TERESA.

MRS HARTLEY STARED A  MIDDLE SCHOOL UNDER THE NAME OF P.VALIENTS SCHOOL.

IN THE FIFTIES BOTH MRS WILKS AND B. HARTLEY MIGRATED TO UK AND EVERYTHING WAS TAKEN OVER BYMRS.P. HARTLEY AND NAMED AS HARTLEYS PRIVATE SCHOOL AFTER THAT WHEN WE GOT RECOGNIZED BY THE BOARD..WE BECAME HARTLEYS HIGH SCHOOL.THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER FACTS THAT I KNOW IF INTERESTED LET ME KNOW.

INCIDENTLY I WAS A STUDENT FROM 1951 AND MY CONNECTIONS REMAINED WITH HARTLEYS TILL I LEFT FOR THE  USA.

Dear Mr. Jagmohan

Definitely such stories are invaluable for students and alumni of the school. But more importantly, such stories should not get lost. In order to ensure that, such stories need to be published and documented. Unless that happens, eventual distortion and misrepresentation will creep in and eventually the stories would get lost forever. Is there anybody in the group who could arrange for such stories to be published in some daily, magazine or in some form? Irrespective of that, I think that a youtube video interview can be arranged and a video documentation of such stories can be made.

Seeking inputs from others.
