Happy sunny Monday morning all!

Here's a strange one that has occurred on me several times over the
years.  My main desktop runs Linux Mint Cinnamon and is up to date.  I
have always used a Logitech K270 wireless USB keyboard and mouse.
Occasionally my keyboard will cease to function. Often it is low
batteries but always there is a time when fresh batteries won't do it.
Each of those times, out of frustration, I've had to purchase a new
keyboard combo of the same model to resolve it.  I am at that point
again now.

The interesting thing is that the mouse, which communicates over the
same usb transceiver, still works fine.  Of course I could plug in a
wired keyboard but my desk is cluttered enough.

Does anyone have any ideas and/or suggestions as to how one can diagnose
and hopefully restore the keyboard working on Linux???

Any ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Bob

ps:  Perusing Logitech's support site clearly responds that their
products do not work with Linux (even though I've been using them with
Linux for decades!!!)

Bob,

As I remember, you also have a Windows box.  Does the keyboard work with it?

RESOLVED!

Don't ask me how, though!

In Linux there's a utility called Solaar which is included in the
standard Debian repositories who's job it is to control Logitech
wireless devices.  While I installed that it still would not recognize
the keyboard.  In fact, I have four other Logitech keyboards exactly the
same.  And with each one I installed fresh batteries and the keyboard
was still not recognized.  I even checked the voltage of each battery
used an it was 1.6V constantly.  Just as I was about to send something
to Logitech support I tried some fresh rechargeable batteries and voila`
the keyboard came to life.  Checking the voltage of the rechargeables
they're also 1.6V.  Go figure.

But I now have a working keyboard.   Hooray!!!

Bob
