Hello,
I sent a reply to Rudy in the previous mail list on Friday. For whatever reason my message does not go through when I do that. Therefore I will post my reply here.
Anyway here is a summary of what I sent on Friday:
I think splitting it in 2 is a good idea. The first meeting would be on the Nix ecosystem in general. I have not fully decided what I would put in it because there is so much that I could not cover it all in one presentation. Give me maybe a week to decide what to put in my presentation and then I will give you a nice abstract to put on the website.
The second meeting would be on NixOS. I could cover where it is used in the real world (even today many businesses and organizations use NixOS). Then I would show off the unique features such as rolling back to previous system configs if you break your system. Then I would show off my personal NixOS config. I will even make a diagram of my config.
If we were to do a third session on this, I could show off some Nix ecosystem features that didn't make the cut in the first presentation. I could also cover GUIX, which is a competitor to Nix but the config files are written in an lisp dialect called Guile (GUIX = GUile + nIX).
From,
Zach
