Hi Brendan,

We have been talking about some issues with the Skate Park with different people, and I want to ask you two things: I can't find the resolution or the ordinance that was passed to approve the project. Can you tell me the around what date were they submitted?

The other thing is: About the task force that was created for this I have two questions: Did it have graffiti artists AND skaters/bmxers or only skaters and Bmxers? Do you think that this task force can be turned into the "Friends of Heaven Park" group? --> This last question is something that I want to ask, because I think we can suggest that this new group may be able to act as any other park group: Pope, Colt, Goodwin, etc., and they can make decisions about how to improve it and how to run it.

We are planning to have conversations with everybody that uses the park including the Sister City committee of Ireland that uses that park and has a monument in it (that has been painted with graffiti by the way), to come up with the rules and regulations for it, that way we can post some signs and organize some people to have a cleaning/painting drive in the park.

Should be easy enough to answer...from day one we've had skaters, bmx'rs, artists....we've already talked about turning the task force into a "friends of heaven" org, putting up signs and working with the Irish community as well.

Have you replied yet?

Hey,

I talked to Fernando here's the story.

Councilman Joel Cruz sort of inherited the Heaven issue from Luis by default. So, the graffiti concerns that used to go to Luis are now going to him. In investigating what's going on, he went to go talk to Andres Chapparro at MECA, who knew nothing about the activities at Heaven. Fernando proposed that we meet with him and Councilman Cruz next so that we can bang out a policy regarding graffiti so that MECA and the police and coordinate with us. The idea here is that we can figure this how without reopening the whole issue with all sorts of new people.

Comacho, what have you been talking about with MECA, who have you been talking to there and how far along are you? I don't want things to get crossed or confused when we sit down with Councilman Cruz.

I'll let you know about meeting times next week.

Oh yeah, the other things Fernando and I talked about was the commencement of a Friends of... group. I told him that we've sort of functioning in the capacity and he told me that apparently DPW has created some kind of form you fill out to affiliate your group with a park. I told him to get the form to us so that we could fill it out. I'm not sure who's included in that "we", but I was assume the people reading this email are.
