Dear Dr. Starr and members of the Board of Education,

I had the privilege last night of attending your meeting.  I must say, I am extremely concerned and confused on what was brought to the table.
Ms. Mary Ann Mara is to be transferred to Toquam so that their vacant A.P position can be filled but doesn't that leave a vacancy at Hart?  Oh that's right, you will fill the now vacant position with an intern?  Why wouldn't you just leave Ms. Mara where she is since she has been a MAJOR factor in the revitalization of Hart School and let the highly qualified intern got to Toquam?
Dr. Starr, you stated that it is not what you would choose to do.  Ms. Mara has done an amazing job at Hart and it would be a loss to the school but that you see no other option.  There is always an option.  You have to just really dig deeper into the real issue.  From what I gathered last night, since Hart is the smallest school, we will always be the first to be put on the chopping block, so to speak. You are penalizing a school that has no control of it's size.  We did not build it, Stamford did.  So why knock us down again after we have finally started to mean something more to the community other than "that school".  We have an amazing staff and I must reiterate on the fact that if it was not for the solid efforts of Ms. Mara along with Mrs. Darling, Hart would still be "that school".
I chose Hart for my children based on the fact that it is a smaller school.  Smaller schools have a major advantage in the education of our children.  Less competition and more focus on each individual child from the staff.
Please stop hurting the children and parents of Hart and let Ms. Mara continue working at Hart.  I can't stress enough on how much she is needed and appreciated at the school.
Thank you
