As you know, the Board of Education elections are around the corner.  These are important elections because they can change the make-up of the board, the view-point on ability grouping, redistricting and Joshua Starr’s performance.  A website has been put together www.keepgrouping.org which I encourage you to explore. 

 

Two of the candidates, Jerry Pia, Republican and Polly Rauh, Democrat are hosting private events to specifically talk to parents on 10/13 and 10/14.   Both of these candidates approached us on the ability grouping issue and would like to hear from us directly.  Even if your children are not directly affected yet, they will be soon.   The change to only 2 groups in Middle School has significantly changed the education of many of our children.   If you would like to attend, you can get more details and rsvp on the website.

Each and every one of you can help Hart simply by signing up at the Box Tops for Education website at www.boxtops4education.com/powerofone and designating Hart Elementary as your school.  For every person who registers on this site, Hart will receive 5 box top credits (50 cents) and if we can get 50 or more people to register from Hart, we will be registered to win a chance at 5,000 bonus box tops ($500).  You can also invite your friends and family to register for us as well.

 

In addition to the credits we can earn, when you register you can:

·        download money saving coupons to use when you shop

·        register to receive emails with recipes and coupons

·        shop at the box tops marketplace with your favorite online retailers and earn a % for Hart

·        shop the Reading Room and earn a % for Hart
