I thought it was a bit 'try-hard' if you ask me. A better effort would
have been necessary to create a good movie which actually resembles the
whole bok and is not just a shadow of it. I know this may cause
conflict but I would like to say: I am all for the books, but not the
movies. It seems that they are making movies quickly to please the
demanding audiences world-wide, therefore, they are not thinking about
quality. In many interviews, people said that the 'underwater scenes'
were the best part of the movie. Bullshit. They were okay. Perosanally,
I believe the stupid display they made beauxbatons and drumstrang do
was ridiculous. They missed vital parts in the movie to put such crap
in. Oh yes, lets all 'aaahh' or 'stamp our staffs' to enter Hogwarts.

Opinions?

P.S. I would like to say that I am glad there are actually good groups
on this thing. I just joined today and I find this great. The groups I
saw before were disgusting.

i thought the film was ok...not brill because firstly they made
somethings wrong for example you know dumbledore- his temper....where
do we see that in the book....and many other things

the reason why i decided not to critize it that much is because you
cannot make the fourth book in to a movie unless it has 2 parts...

also i did not judge it by how much it left out...i judged it only by
what the movie shows.....and i am also not a fan of all HP movies as
they are not as good as the book. this is because Rowling describes it
so much better than what you can put on screen

but all in all i liked the film as it was funny... especailly fred and
george

I agree about dumbledore. I think they could have done a bit better on
him. it seemed like he was spazen' out or something. but other then
that ( and a few more things ) the movie was pretty good. I know they
couldnt fit the whole movie in there but what can we do?

Your opinion is respected. Personally I loved the movie. The first time
I saw it, I thought that everything was going to fast. The second time
I saw it i appreciated alot of parts. Unfortunatly some parts were left
out but that is the price they have to pay to compromise. Who wants to
see a 4 hour movie or 1 movie made into 2 parts. Imagine going home
from the theater seeing the first part and still wondering what
Voldemort looks like???? The Potter movies get better and better. I
agree about Dumbledore being to "Rambo-ish". Whenever I re-read any
book Richard Harris' version comes to mind. Even upon reading the Half
Blood Prince. The underwater scene looked really good to me almost
creepy when you see the characters suspended in the water. The maze
scene was better than I imagined it, without any spinx's or other sorts
of creatures. As soon as they break into the maze scene all I could
think about was the triwizard cup being a portkey and how long it would
take for Cedric and Harry to run up to it and grab ahold of it, only to
be taken to the graveyard. As to the display of Beauxbatons, are you
forgetting they are "Veela"? They have to look all pretty and frilly
and cutesy......c'mon! they are french girls! As for the Durmstrang
boys they come from a place that's colder than Moscow , they have to
look tough and athletic. This movie does hold off on vital parts such
as! When Dumbledore tells Snape "You know what I must ask you to
do...if you are ready.." And Snape tells him "I am"....Shit........why
did they not include that! That is so vital .......to the next story.
Have I rambled on? Mmmmm I love Hermione and the Krum...........!!!!!
The Weasley Twins! They are finally portrayed like the school
clowns...but where the heck was Lee Jordan??

Tis foolish to compare a book against the movie based upon it.

If you do, you'll always be disappointed.

I am an American man thats almost 30. When the boosk came out I said
"big deal", when the movies came out I said "big deal", then I caught a
movie on tv and loved it.

Went out and bought all 3, loved them. Heard a 4th movie was coming
out, so what did my wife and I do? Buy all the books and read all of
them before the Goblet movie came out.

We still love the movies....
we hate that cool scenes were lef tout, but thats hwat happenes when
you make a movie based on a book.

Enjoy the movies for what they are, enjoy the books for what they are.
They are not the same thing, two totally different mediums!

Jazz everything you said reminded me of myself. I am almost 30 myself
and I felt the same way about hearing the books and movie come out. I
wasn't really interested but upon flipping the channel I had noticed
one of the first scenes on SS . Owls have always been my favorite
animal so when I saw them sending letters to Harry I stopped to watch
the entire movie, then bought the trilogy and then the books.

you and I are similar in other ways...

i have seen your former posts on Snape.

Ive loved Snape since the start.

I STILL think he is on the good side, just waiting for his moment.

I think he will die because he will end up breaking the unbreakable vow
in the end.

He just CANT be bad. He is so mean to Harry, I know, but I really like
him. I dont know why... I just hope there isnt some moron at my wifes
office who looks up how the 7th book ends as soon as it comes out and
spoils it for her then me. I dont know why, but there are people in
this world who love to spoli stuff like this for others...

Tell me about it, I also had an idea that maybe Snape would die in the
attempts of saving Harry just like his mother did. Maybe that could be
his redemption. Gosh there are so many possibilities about Snape's
loyalties but why go with the obvious? I did read a tiny article on
Entertainment Weekly with Kong on the cover that J.K Rowling has
finished more than half of the last chapter of the seventh book and it
also goes on to say that the very last word to end the book might or
will be "Scar", interesting huh?

I think the same thing about Horcrux's. If Voldemort has created 7
Horcrux and has hidden part of his soul in them why would he want to
kill Harry..supposing Harry is a Horcrux. I think we should start
posting these Horcrux messages somewhere else before we get our heads
eaten out...jeje

I have the same opinion. I am not so critic but what you say it's
really. The scene under water was good but the order of the succes was
bad. In Engalnd you've already have the 6 book in english, no? Here in
Spain it's going to be the 23 of february. I love this group, and also
I like you have different opinions.
Bye

I completely agree too. I know that what we imagine (when we read the book) will always be better than a movie .But atleast they could have made it a better movie.I remember Hallmark makes fablous movies espically any thing relater to magic.May be they ahould have tried.
