HRFC Friends and Family,

We hope this update finds you doing well. This past weekend, HRFC and Perseverance Fields Complex made the local news. Click here to watch, https://www.abc27.com/news/local/olympic-size-rugby-field-to-be-built-in-dauphin-county/

As you just saw, we had a busy and productive fall and hope to begin work following a long rest during winter. Below is a picture of our snow covered pitch just a few weeks ago.

There is grass sprouting on the hillside and also on the graded playing surface. Before the harsh winter hit, the pitch was covered with topsoil and grass seed. The contractor plans to return this week to amend the crest of the field to improve water management and redistribute soil in compromised areas. Once finished, we can complete the final seeding.
Thanks to Tony Trost, we have been able to secure an Electrical Engineer to complete an electrical/power survey. Much of this project has kept its momentum by the hard work and dedication of our rugby family and friends. One of the stalwart Old Boys and integral member of the Futures Committee, Jeff Paine, is undertaking very serious brain surgery this week and the club wishes to extend to him and his family our thoughts for a speedy recovery. He has been integral in moving this project forward.

In rugby love,

Your HRFC Futures Committee

Good Morning HRFC –

There has been tremendous progress at Perseverance Lodge Field in Londonderry Township.  A well had been drilled to accommodate short-term irrigation needs and longer-term clubhouse plumbing. The playing surface has moderate grass growth and is in need of pebble pickers to collect the stones pushed to the surface from the past winter’s freeze/thaw cycles. Come see the progress and lend a hand of thanks to all the work that has been completed thus far.

Who: YOU

What: HRFC Pebble Clearing

When: July 10 from 10am-2pm

Where: Perseverance Lodge Field, Sunset Park 2601 Sunset Drive, Middletown PA

Why: No one wants to play on rocks, bring a small bucket and screwdriver (or similar tool) for prying stones out of the surface.

Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090E48ADA82FABFA7-field

Refreshments will be provided following the completion of work.

Cheers,

Georgia
