Subject: [EPRU BoD] Referee Certification November 20 - Full Reimbursement Available for Current EPRU Members!

EPRU Leadership - the message below is being forwarded along on behalf of Len Borcky. He is copied on this email so please feel free to reach out to him directly with any questions. Additionally, I am happy to announce that the EPRU Executive Committee has decided that any current EPRU member who gets certified as a referee on November 20 will be fully reimbursed.

In order for that to happen you'll need to supply us with paperwork (after the course) showing that you are a current EPRU member as well as proof that you successfully completed the referee certification. Once that's done we'll send you a check. Hopefully very straightforward and easy. Please send this info to your clubs.

Here's Lenny's message:

Greetings local rugby community.  As we end the Fall season, the East Penn Rugby Referee Society is proud (and shocked) to say that we were able to cover well over 90% of the fixtures that were requested of us.  We did so with a great number of referees doubling and tripling up on a given day.  We sent out a good number of newer referees without proper referee coaching.  We also ran into the injury bug that can come with pushing a bit too hard.

History tells us that the Spring season is much heavier in terms of volume and our coverage success rate is going to drop significantly.  We are looking for your help as we try to add to our numbers.  There is currently a Level 1 Referee Course scheduled for Saturday, November 20th with plenty of space left for attendees.  It will be held in Horsham, PA – right off the PA Turnpike.  There are also concerted efforts from Rugby PA and EPRU to do more aggressive recruiting and build at least one course toward the end of January or beginning of February.

USA Rugby - L1 Referee Course 11/20 – Philadelphia, PA

We are looking for all of our local clubs to ask around and find bodies that would be willing to pick up the whistle this Spring and moving forward.  If any interest is identified, please reach out to any of the officers of the EPRRS.  All of our information can be found on the EPRRS website (www.eastpennrugby.org).

Thanks!
