It's great to hear something from the Harpsoft angle of the Universe.

It's been a while but this week I picked up my harmonica again after
busy work weeks and just now I get invited to a google gorup.. must be
a sign :D

I'm still willing to assist in production. As a "ICT minder graphic
designer / graphical minded ICT'er "
I can contribute in interface design and evaluation, (beta) testing,
production of promotional and supporting materials and documentation
etc.

It's a great concept and it (already)works fine... building a
community and side-functionalities would even make the whole deal more
attractive... because today difference isn't made by product but by
service!

that would help our harping.. what would help in better insight in
"market needs" as well... :D

Hope thi initiative gets launched !

Master, share your plans with us! :D

Greetings from Belgium,

LievenDV (guitarist working out the harmonica :D)

I'll admit that Harpsoft has not been quite alive in a while. I had
let some problems pile-up on the previous hosting service that I've
now alleviated and have also increased bandwidth with the new hosting
provider.

The number of tabs available is now phenomonal with help from
HarpTabs.com, even though they may not work perfectly as they weren't
geared only for Bendometer, they sure help to learn basic melodies.

I'm now looking into creating tabs with timing information, so that
Bendometer can show exactly how to play a song with notes and rhythm/
durations. I struggled with this before with an older piece of
software I called RockOn!, which basically was a video game you
controlled with the harmonica. If you were successful you played a
song. The problem was it was hard to find usable tunes to play with
it. I think I have a plan in place that will make more tunes
accessible, but I plan to introduce this in Bendometer. It will take
some work, but I'd like it to see the light of day as I see it as very
completing piece of functionality to add to Bendometer. If it works
out, maybe RockOn! will come back as well.

I tried an attempt with this by converting .abc formatted music into
harp tab, this first attempt resides here: http://harpsoft.com/folktabs/.
Unfortunately, my feeling is that the vast majority of this collection
isn't interesting to most folks.

In any case, I'm glad to see about 50 folks sign up so quickly to this
forum, I think the older defunct forum had around 80 and that was
almost a year ago. I expect this forum to be even larger quite soon.
