Found a video by Lee Sankey, where he suggests performing an exercise of running the major scale in the low register (holes 1 to 4). This requires two bends to properly complete the scale.  The result can be compared to the middle register (holes 4 to 7) which does not require any bent notes to run the scale.
Ultimately, the scale should be able to be run over the lower and middle register (two octaves) and sound the same notes.  These skills can then be used in other riffs that are based on crossed position or in 3rd position.
Looking forward to practicing this exercise and see how it works out.  Also, looking at other videos by same author on other bending exercises.
Bendometer is invaluable in quickly identifying whether the bent note is at the right pitch or not.
