Guys

Trying to learn some harp solo and back up for midnight rider by allman
bros.
looks like key of D but had 2 minors (g minor 7 and Am7)...

Thoughts on a good harp key for this one?? I'm usually only a 1/2/3
position guy...

Thanks!

Ian

This version uses Gm and C for the "chorus" (actually just the last part of
the verse, by my reckoning).
The song is strongly in D, so you need an F#, for sure.
There is also a section with a Bb to C (the instrumental).
I just tried it with a C6/D6 (Brendan Power's Power Chromatic, a diatonic
tuning). I think it's a good fit, you can get the Bb as a draw bend, the
two chords (C and D) are in the song, you can draw bend the D, F# and A
notes for expression.
I would do a video, but I have some other things to do that might be more
important.
Seydel will make this tuning for you, so will Brendan! The Lucky 13 is a
good instrument to retune for this tuning, but that might be more than you
are up for. I would be will to create one for you, but it ain't free.
This message is, however, and I hope it is of value to you.
PS There is another version of this song by Gregg Allman with different
chords, FYI.

You are more than welcome--I better post a video, not tonight, not
tomorrow, but soon.
I tried it a little bit again today, it works pretty well!

Check out Willie Nelson's version of "Midnight Rider", with Mickey
Raphael playing a D harp.

Always liked this song, as well as the original Allman Brothers' song.
