Cham-Ber was not just a performer but also an educator and an arranger.
I still have some of his 18 studies for chromatic harmonica but I don't think they
were ever published. They were based on Bona and showed great insight to
the use of b# and e#. He also had Music Minus one stuff but I don't think it's
available from the company. I know he did many arrangements of pieces also.
I think there is a duet for the Air in G.

Cham-Ber was my first harmonica teacher through Music Minus one.
I would hate to see his work lost. I have what I think is his first recording
in Hi Fi before stereo. I'm sure it's out of print now.

I think it would be great if SPAH could Help preserve his legacy so it could be
available to future generations. Some type of archive would be great. I know there
may be some legal issues but I don't think they're insurmountable. Maybe the
Huang harmonica company could help SPAH.

Thanks for listening,

 Emile

Thank you Rob Paparozzi for your assistance.

I have fond memories negotiating a good deal on a 12 pack of Silvertones
from Mr. Frank and Chamber Huang at the Huang booth.

Thanks for your music Sir, and R.I.P.,

Thank you Emile for this suggestion - maybe El Presidente Winslow can help to move this idea forward.

My first real chromatic (1 year after I started) was a CBH 2016- I still have it.

Cham-Ber was a very kind man who loved music and the harmonica. I went to his seminar in Kansas City in 1978 when I was playing all of 2 years. Cham-Ber was incredible. (I met a young Mark DuFresne there and was inspired to learn how to bend a note on diatonic - and chromatic that week.)

5 years later, Cham-Ber was on his way to Chicago and coming through my hometown. He called me and we met for him to show me his new line of Huang Harmonicas. I loved the 1248 and also the Star Performer. He was a fun hang with a great sense of humor. He asked if I would come work with him at NAMM in Chicago in the Summer of 1983 - Of course I would!! That show was very impressive to this young man.
Thank you for all the inspiration CBH.

Cham-Ber was a great teacher and designer of new harmonicas, but to preserve his legacy, I'd most like to see some of his Insignia Records reissued. I especially like his 2 LPs with Mogens Ellegaard, "Two Virtuosi" and "A Breath-Taking Performance." Tunes include those of Bach, Telemann, Bartok, and Handel. Does anyone know who owns the rights to Insignia Record recordings? Is it Hohner?
