PS to those who haven't yet tried it: I still use the oldstyle MAAS tube
so don't know yet if the newer lavender scented or liquid version works as
well as the product I've been using since 2005. Here's a link: the tube
shown at the top is the 'old style' one and is usually still available at local
stores such as CVS & Walgreens.

It works on ALL metals including stainless steel, removes rust, can be
used on glass and plastics, is less toxic than any other metal or silver
polish on the market - and for me personally I do a last wipe down with rubbing
alcohol of any surface I might come into contact with such as the
mouthpiece and outside surfaces, while still leaving the buffed-in Maas on the
underside of metal coverplates to prevent future rust. I've even been using it
on the shells of my CX-12's after washing them, rationalizing that since it
will polish plastics, it just might be worth experimenting with to see if
it'll prevent brittleness down the road. So far, so good.
As always: a tiny dab goes a long way when it comes to harmonicas,
especially the reed plates.

I stopped using Kaboom when I noticed that the new version has a warning
against using it on brass, and starting using Maas metal polish instead.
You might go to a store and read the Kaboom label for claims and warnings
re what you can and can't use it on. If you're in doubt and want to be
cautious, go to Home Depot or a similar place and get a bit of scrap stainless
to try it on (of course there are many varieties of stainless steel, so
this is not foolproof).

My experience w/ the "NEW" Kaboom is that it has oxyclean in it and tends
to leave rust spots on the brass, no idea how it works on SS, I now use Bar
Keepers Friend.

Please don't assume 'upset' in my attempts to clarify the issue. Perhaps
it's simply that I'm not making myself understood. When one wipes down a
surface thoroughly (any surface, polished or not) with alcohol, especially 91%
Isopropyl Alcohol, your above scenario simply would not apply. There's no
'substance' left ON any area of my harmonicas which would cause your above
imagined scenario to occur, i.e. ingestion of the polish previously
used....unless, of course one isn't wiping it down sufficiently enough? As
previously stated several times, I make sure that I am.
