Getting the team going again...

Been meaning to pop out a note to our esteemed group for some time...
sorry for the quiet. Dahlia is alive and well since Eric got things
humming in July. I have run into a very critical problem though which
is effecting my ability to use it with good effect...
I can't change room assignments without deleting and rebuilding the
individual. I know that when the participant side of the app is
constructed that it will be resolved, but at the moment it is
presenting a greater barrier than I imagined to being able to
successfully use the app in it's current iteration.
So I wanted to check in with the group, and see who might be
interested/available in getting together and working on the
participant side of the application. Without that functionality I
pretty much need to maintain a seperate list and then just enter in
the data in a historical fashion later.
I also noticed that Give Camp is coming up, and didn't know if any of
you were planning on participating... if so, maybe that would be a
good place to jump back into the water? It's in October... I can
submit an application to add Dahlia to the projects, but I would not
want to do that if the group wanted to remain as it is.
It's sort of a matter of pride to me at the moment really.... I would
give much to see it be an effective tool - beer, food, hospitality,
whatever...lol I don't want the end of the story to be that we almost
got something good done. I for one don't mind using the GiveCamp as an
opportunity, but I also don't want to take any of the cred of landing
this thing from those who have already given so much of their time and
effort, and in whom I have absolute trust.

I'm all for this as well.
The last I heard we couldn't deploy this to your environment. I think that's a HUGE challenge where we need help.

It is successfully deploying to the internal environment ... I fixed this awhile ago

Using the app? Yah... me... lol But I banged against the wall of not being able to move people around to different rooms and that is a major barrier.

I’m really glad that we’re talking about getting this going again. The accumulated weight of all the low-level guilt from having started this thing in February and not finishing it is killing me.

Well if it makes you feel any better Eric... all of the submissions
came through for donations from Russell and MS... and that totally
paid for the weekend. Which was AWESOME. Totally appreciated that!
But YES getting the gang together and landing this would be a great
thing to try and accomplish before the end of the year. The people who
heard about it thought it was cool... but the true test of what we
accomplished is in making the tool truly useable in the sense of
saving time. Which it isn't... I had hoped it might be even as it is,
but it isn't. I was needing to reassign rooms almost immediately and
totally got blocked.
So in the next couple days when more people have had a chance to
respond we need to start having a discussion about how to proceed...
do we think we can hash this out remotely, or would getting together
be more effective. Of couse Justin has to be remote... but he was a
thought driver/window dresser more than a coder in this process so
that can continue to work even in PA. ;o)
I'm sure we could find somewhere on that side of the water to get
together... or my house... or heck... Bobby's house is huge. lol
I am deeply grateful for the continued commitment of the team.
