Dear Lalitha,

I would request you and the other residents of our ward to look at these elections as Lok Sabha elections and not BBMP corporator elections.

The questions you ask is more relevant to be asked to Mr. Babu Reddy who is our corporator from Congress party. We should be asking him why there is no footpath in front of your house. We should be asking the corporator from Congress party as to why there is a pothole in your way to Spencer. We should be asking the Congress party corporator as to why we have absolutely no improvement in the quality of SWM in the past 3-4 years since he has been in charge. So if you do not have these things today, it points to failure of your Congress corporator than your MP.

These elections have to be about larger issues facing the nation like education for underprivileged children from minority sections on par with other children and not smaller issues like whether I have a smooth pavement from my apartment complex to the main road.

We have to go beyond looking at the microcosm for the national elections.

Regards,
Salman Sibal

My rupee one worth view. Ward, Assembly, Parliamentary constituency.. all overlap.  Until  and
unless City corporations/Gram panchayats, State and National governments bring in synergy on
how the issues are viewed and resolved keeping citizens at the centre of their thinking, we will
continue seeing a Central Government policy of SEZ being implemented with State Government
level approval of land use/acquisition with Corporation level sanction for water/power/roads
messing up the ordinary citizens lives as we are seeing in Bellandur/Agara Mantri SEZ project -
how it is approved, implemented and executed.

So should our MLA or MP candidates know of our ward issues? Yes he/she should.

Can they do something? Yes, they can; if not directly at least indirectly.

Finally it all depends on the individuals we ALL elect  as our corporators, MLAs and MPs.

Regards

Dear Anup,

It was difficult to resist not to respond.
As far as corporator is concerned he has done a great disservice to this ward. We have expressed our anguish  amply clear to our congress corporator quite some time back. The road (Sobha-Green Glen) for which 2 CR is sanctioned and work is in full swing was done only by Arvind Limbavalli. I am just stating the fact as I was involved from day 1. No other political party or candidate can claim any credit. Having said that I agree that local issues should not influence (ideally) for Loksabha voting.  We will revisit what our local corporator has done during corporation election. If you need any more clarity on his contribution, please do and come visit this side of ORR and meet the RWAs and we can give the details.
I think by now each one of us has got enough data points about incumbent candidate and others in fray for this Lok Sabha election. Having said that my personal view (and personal view is encouraged I was told in this forum during election time) is first time this is almost becoming a predential type of election.

Thanks & Regards,
Arindam

Hi,

My request here ,please don't mix up things to make the audience confused.

Just adding some facts on BBMP:

Currently BBMP is ruled by BJP and  the BBMP Fund for our ward is 3 crores/year and it is increased it to 4 crores from this year.
Our ward was under grama panchayath till last elections and it is the second largest ward in BBMP and highest tax payers.
The allocated fund is not enough to maintain the ward requirement. So we are asking more funds from BBMP,but not sanctioned yet.
We are also trying to get more fund from goverment ,as special focussed projects (if possible).

Please get in touch with corporator/ward committee members to know how the allocated fund is being utilised for our ward. They can share the details in person.

Thanks,
Anup
