Title: Public Safety Tech Refresh Integration Engineer
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Job Type: 11+ months Contract //7 hrs per day
***Direct F2F interview required*** 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (including 1 unpaid hour for lunch), 35 work hours per week, possible evenings and/or weekends.
Description:
Scope of services:
• Assists with coordinating the installation, integration, and testing of a System of Systems supporting PSAC construction technology fit-out, testing, and commissioning;
• Supports system and component owners in developing Interface Control Documentation for each interfacing point. Provide quality control and oversight to ensure Interface Control Documents (ICD);
• Identifying the appropriate sequence and scheduling of integration efforts for Public Safety subsystems;
• Determining the external interfaces requirements necessary to support subsystem integration and testing, and arrange to simulate or supply them as necessary;
• Identifying any resources needed to conduct the integration and test functions, including identifying staffing requirements, tools and test equipment, installation support materials and external vendor support;
• Directing the installation and configuration of equipment and subsystems into the PSAC environments;
• Discerning technical problems, plans solution paths, and coordinating tasks with other Public Safety staff and consultants for efficient resolution;
• Coordinates, monitors and controls all technical activities needed to support integration with the project and program management teams
Mandatory Skills/Experience Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered
• At least 12 years of relevant experience in system designing, system integration or project engineering on a large-scale infrastructure program or large scale integration effort involving multiple technologies, end users and/or contractors.
• Background in Public Safety communications technologies (9-1-1 telephony, Land Mobile Radio, Computer Aided Dispatch systems, Logging and Recording systems) preferred but not required. A practical working knowledge of ICDs, Use Cases, Test Cases, Test Procedures development is required.
• Previous integration / test experience on a large system is required.
• Strong analytical as well as verbal and written communications skills is required.
• Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn new processes/procedures with minimal supervision.
• Able to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Understanding of computer interfaces, IP networks, GUIs.
• Exposure to Public Safety systems.
• Proactive approach to problem solving any issue, both technical and non-technical, with strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface with executive management, give senior level presentations.
• Excellent time and task management skills and adherence to schedules.
• A strong determination and well developed sense of urgency and follow through to complete projects on time.
• Understanding of the systems development life cycle
