I've enjoyed all presentations our members have put on, but the true reason I joined the group was to build stuff. What do we think about starting a workshop where we can take the meeting time to collaboratively learn Eagle PCB cad, create our own PCB, go through ordering (if we want to), etc. I have some ideas I'd like to build, and I've played with Eagle before, but maybe as a group we can learn together? Perhaps we can have a short general presentation like we've had in the past, and then continue with the workshop? I want to build stuff! ;)
I don't think I'm qualified to teach Eagle, but maybe we just figure it out together.

I think this is a great suggestion for a new topic. Let's discuss this on Tuesday night.
I know enough about PCB design to help out, just not familiar with EAGLE CAD.
Maybe someone else knows that CAD software. There are plenty of vendors for this type of CAD.
Most PCB CAD programs work in a similar fashion except;
-some cost big $$
-the 'auto-routing' algorithm is a differentiater, better with the more $$ spent
-special conditions (ie: High frequency, power, multi-layer) may not be handled in all CAD programs.
my $0.02 worth,
Don

The Eagle CAD is $0 and Sparkfun has a library for most of the components that's why I was drawn to it.
