Happy Sunday Everyone!

I have been thinking about additional cooling for the HR500, and was wondering if anyone had either upgraded their fans, added additional fans, or both.

I'm interested in hearing about any of your experiences or thoughts.

When you are looking for higher CFM fans for the Hardrock-500's amplifier deck remember that the voltage for the fans is supplied by a LM2941 linear regulator that has a maximum current of 1 amp. You should keep the maximum current of each fan below 300 mA. If you need more cooling that this limit supplies you will need to power the fans from a difference source.

There are other 40x40x20mm fans that can be used which have higher than 10.8 CFM flow rates. the CUI CFM-4020V-180-275's were chosen based on their sound level, CFM, price and availability.

I had actually been thinking about tapping the 2A that is available for powering a radio,  But then saw it's on 2 pins (?) on the Aux/DB9 on the rear, and I don't really want to change anything there.   If I add a fan/s, I will probably use the same external power that I am using for the Square SDR & IC705.
