I attempted to use my Hardrock-500 on 17m for the 1st time today and Immediately, the temp indicator rose to over 177 degrees and the amp clicked off.

According to Jim,
"There seems to be some variation in the Mega layout. Some of the production units seems to get RF in the temp line on 17m. The remedy is a 0.1uF cap on the back of the Mega. Here is a picture..."

I had a .package of .068uf caps and tried one and it worked. No more RF on the temp line.

Mine did that too. The fix from Jim:
  • Yes, we've seen this on a few amps. RF is confusing the temp reading on 17M for some reason. It's not a 'real' overtemp. The fix is a 0.1u bypass cap on the temp line on the Mega. Very easy to add:

Hi, I put some ferrite cores around the power supply cables (red and black ones) and in long flat cables.
It seems possible RFI is less now and I don't have any issue in any band on power meter and other screen indications on left display.
