Hi all,

Joe VE7VXO recently made new HR500 firmware available. It includes a number of improvements from various sources (mine included) and I think you want to have a look at it.

Have a look at README.md for details.

Unfortunately, Joe has troubles logging in on google and asked me to post on his behalf.

Note that the software distribution includes notes on running the HR500 on 160m which you may want to be aware of.

I really like Joe's improvements - have a look.

Joe VE7VXO has again updated the firmware for the HR-500.  Version 7.00 is available at:

A new menu item has been added that when selected allows a variable amp hang time after the PTT is released.  This allows an adjustable PTT hang time for exciters that do not have a built-in hang time, e.g., my Wilderness Sierra.   I have been using and testing this firmware mostly with my KX3 with its CW DELAY arbitrarily set to zero.  In all respects the new firmware has been working well in my HR-500 with all of the features that have been previously curated.

Joe cautions against downloading other versions of his firmware that have been posted on other sites.  He has no way to assure their veracity.  All previous bugs have been removed from his recent versions including v7.00 which is available on the github link above.  I appreciate the all-improved and reliable PTT performance and improved watt and peak reading meter performance the most.

Have fun and 73,
