The community has asked for it and here it is: VistA running on GT.M on Windows. This uses cygwin (a linux/posix compatibility library for windows) to provide a linux type environment on windows. This doesn't require a virtual machine to run or compile.

Major thanks to:
K.S. Bhaskar
FIS GT.M developers
Sam Habiel
David Wicksell
David Whitten
and anyone else I forgot

And seriously the FIS GT.M developers are awesome!

This is still a development project and not for production use! Use at your own risk! There are database crashes that still happen to those of us working on the port so don't use it with your only copy of a database. You have been warned!

Hi, Bhaskar!
How about YottaDB + CygWin? Porting is planned?

At this time, we don't plan to support a Cygwin port because there are better solutions today.

The code base compiles on Microsoft's Ubuntu for Windows, but limitations in that implementation means that it only runs as root, which we do not consider prudent and hence are not supporting it. Once Ubuntu for Windows allows normal users to run YottaDB, we will make it a supported platform. If you are comfortable in that environment, you can try it.

Meanwhile, the fastest way to run on Windows may be to use a Docker container (https://groups.google.com/d/msg/hardhats/QxrqjMwZXiE/qSH2gkDiBgAJ) or a virtual machine (follow the instructions at https://docs.yottadb.com/AcculturationGuide/index.html).
