Hi,

So a while back we faced this issue with vistapedia.net being a malicious site, and I believe vistapedia.com was bought in to sort out the issue. Now my network admin seems to be saying that vistapedia.com is a malicious site too! Is there a problem with the site again!?

It shouldn't be listed as a malicious site.
We put it on a different machine in a different part of the internet.
We loaded a different version of the MediaWiki software,
and have it on a different version of Linux.
We did this because the last time it occurred,
when vistapedia.net was under attack, we didn't have
control over what versions of the software were used,
and in fact, there was an exploit which had been used to attack us.

I tried just now, and did NOT get such a warning.
I will attempt to get the google-meisters to review the site.

Could you send me (personally) a copy of any message you are getting
which confirms such a claim?

Thanks again,
David

I am not getting it either. Was the page in his cache perhaps?

I noticed this issue behind my company firewalls. I will post a message to the admins asking them for some specifics of why the site may be blocked. I did not notice this last evening (even at office) so I was completely taken by surprise. In defence of our office firewalls, last time vistapedia.net got blocked withing a couple of days even google threw the malicious site issue.

I certainly take any of these issues seriously.

Since I am the primary (monetary) sponsor of vistapedia,
I don't like to waste my money. Of course, a lot of people
are sponsors of vistapedia in terms of information, and I thank
each of them for making our community stronger.

Incidentally, do you have any complaints about vistapedia.com ?

Hi All,

Sorry, seems like it was a false alarm. One of our proxies was not updated. Apparently this issue was isolated only to a few project computers using an outdated proxy. As a matter of fact, even vistapedia.net seems to work on the network now too...

David, I think you could have a newbie section which could basically serve as a dummies guide kind of a think. Nancy has some wonderful resources on her server but unfortunately in networks where port 80 is the only port open (this is true even for universities along with corporate offices) the resources become hard to come by. Apart from that it is my one stop shop for all about vista and in some cases even mumps. Thanks for the great work.

Hello All,

I enjoy the Slashdot rumor mill...this link came up the other day.

I consider it a shining example of beltway bandit's insider influence
over Federal programs...I am insulted and angered...and ambivalent about
posting hard questions to the list-serv.

http://www.federaltimes.com/article/20120723/DEPARTMENTS01/307230001/At-DoD-6-projects-8-billion-over-budget

As I witness our gradual assimilation, I an occasionally reminded we
would be well served to continue to evaluate who we are getting in bed
with and what they are (and are not) capable of...AND...the importance
our efforts to bring sobriety into this process.

I'm pretty sure it does NOT serve us well to turn a blind eye toward
serial abuse or to place our good name/reputation/expertise in/behind
their (perhaps errant?) project with virtually no commitment for a voice
in governance or principle.

Am I the only one who thinks the may be a correlation between this and
the perceived reality of DoD's published planning documents (concerning
the future of VISTA)? Are we deluding ourselves? Better yet, are we
enabling yet another abuse in any way?

Have we rationally assessed our options?

Just my opinion...you be the judge.

vistapedia is listed in scumware.org; consider using a weighted web filter score for sites > 30 days in list age.

I used scumware.org and found this record (slightly edited for e-mail clarity)

Query results

Date: 2012-05-30 19:23:33
URL: http://vistapedia.net/index.php
MD5: 2EC1CEBFF3F871CAD02DAAFFAB46899B
IP: 69.163.236.180 US
Threat: HTML/ScrInject.B.Gen virus

Since we moved the wiki we have IP address: 76.113.46.9 for Host name:
vistapedia.net

so hopefully any user protection tools will notice this.

vistapedia.com was not listed.
