Greetings all,

I would like to stand up an instance of VistA and CPRS at home to tinker with, with a specific focus on learning more about the RPC broker and HL7 interfaces.  I would like this to mirror the VA's current system as closely as possible.  It seems like Delphi with the BDK is a good way to get started for the RPC broker piece, but it's unclear to me whether I can explore properly with the community edition or would need the professional or above editions.  I'm also curious if there are any other actively maintained tools to easily interface with the broker outside of Delphi?

I have found disparate information all over the web some of which is quite outdated, so it's unclear to me what the state of all this is in 2024.  This community seems like a good place to hopefully get pointed in the right direction - appreciate any insights you all can provide.

Best,
Zak

The VA makes its codebase available both in Delphi and M.
There are also docker containers to support the backend server.

FYI Delphi Community Edition works fine for compiling CPRS and developing Broker applications.
