Anyone interested in trying out the new SMART Container capabilities
of EWD (requires latest build 939 or later) with VistA should check
out this first draft documentation:

http://www.mgateway.com/smart/EWD_SMART_Container_Reference.pdf

With this technology, you could begin to extend the capabilities of
VistA by writing SMART Apps - and the cool thing is that your apps
will then work on any other SMART-enabled EMR too!

Rob,

Thanks for preparing and sharing such great documentation.

Based on it, I have now prepared a session for our class
at RPI, giving a quick tour of the dEWDrop VM.

It is in two parts here (the Moodle site for the class):

and has been copy / pasted here:
http://www.osehra.org/blog/education-getting-started-dewdrop-vm-part-ii

The second part shows the basic use of the SMART container,
however, it picks a Patient that doesn't have much data and
therefore doesn't expose well the richness of the SMART apps.

Could any one suggest a better Patient to use from the data
collection in the dEWDrop VM ?

I will really like to show the example of the Cardiac Risk
Estimation app that Rob demonstrated at VistA Expo.

  Thanks for any hints,

        Luis

The cardiac risk app requires 3 lab results with specific LOINC codes to work. I have added the lab tests to a couple of patients on the demo server, but didn't do so yet in the dEWDrop setup. I'll try and add them to the next release of dEWDrop.

George,

Thanks for the clarification,
that settles it for this iteration.

I'll look at building examples for
the students with the other apps.

    Thanks

Luis,

The next release with the test lab results George was mentioning, will be dEWDrop 4, to be released very soon.
