Hi Everyone,

Can anyone please share the number of VistA Implementations done across the globe?
If you can share the list of Hospitals/ Clinics would be a great.

The above information is just to know more on VistA Implementation Side as there are not many articles available as of now.

I am afraid that is impossible. WorldVistA EHR is open source so anybody who wants to can use it and the companies that install it often do not share their client lists.

I know this is not what was asked for, however, it illustrates that others are using VistA successfully, this is from and article in 2006 so you can imagine how this list has grown over the years.

Table 9-2 VistA Implementations

Part A: United States

• Department of Veterans Affairs

• Midland Memorial Hospital, Texas

• Indian Health Service

• Department of Defense

Again, you are assuming vendors will tell you, and they largely won't.

Greetings and Merry Christmas from 80 degree in December Houston, Texas where Astronaut VistA is alive and well, used in multiple clinical locations!

The largest VistA system in existence is likely Jordan's Hakeem system (https://ehs.com.jo/hakeem-program).

Thanks, an astonishing success. I remember somebody told me about the implementation of FileMan in Arabic -- right to left. But I do not remember whether VistA is used in English or Arabic. Could somebody provide a little more details about Hakeem? I didn't find an answer in the internet.

Thanks

Wolfgang

Sam will have to correct me if I am wrong, but I believe patient registration (maybe only the patient's name) is in Arabic and the rest is all in English.

Wolfgang,

I did the lion's share of the work to support Arabic on VistA back in 2009.

See what I wrote at the time: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4

Briefly, the patient's name is in Arabic, and medication instructions are in Arabic. Various forms (including instructions for patients in Scheduling) are also in Arabic. Arabic is stored using a Windows encoding (as that's needed for CPRS compiled using Delphi 7).

I would put in a plug here for the work I did at OSEHRA for "Plan VI"; summary can be found here: http://smh101.com/articles/p6/plan6-final.html. Sadly it has no long term takers. But I did come back with a good conclusion: it's really hard to adapt VistA to a country that does not practice medicine in English; so much so that I cannot personally advocate it for a small team anymore, given how difficult it was.
