Hi all

I am working on lab Loinc , Result NLT code,CPT and workload mapping
to Lab tests. Can any body help me to clarify the concept of above all
relations and its functioning at each level and its importance. I had
gone through the documents but still not able to understand their
interactions and utility.

I mapped some of the LOINC codes and NLT code to particular test, but
not able to map CPT codes to Lab test. Is it required to map CPT
manually?. For which option i can perform CPT code mapping to Lab
test.

How it is all codes are related from Lab ordering to lab resulting
and how it work on background.

Looking forward for your kind support and guidance.

When yo state that you "I had gone through the documents"
Are you referring to these documents?

Thanks Mr.John McCormack

I had gone through the above link documents but it all tells about how
to map codes to lab test. Can you please tell me how these all codes
intract with each other in background.

Like, if i place a lab order with CPT code and all lab test are mapped
to LOINC and NLT then how it is goin to interact.

I just need to understand how all these codes are supporting
laboratory module functioning.

Looking forward for your valuable response.

Thanks & Regards

Soni,

Sorry if this is stating the obvious, do you first understand the
purpose of the various coding schemes? If you don't start there.
Secondly, do you actually use CPT codes in your country?

I don't know if this applies to your circumstances: There are at least
two potential non-technical issues: first is CPT codes were developed to
satisfy US billing requirements which often don't apply outside the US
and secondly AMA only allows distribution of CPT codes to approved
countries that have IP protection laws that the AMA lawyers deem
acceptable.

CPT codes are generally used for billing purposes.
LOINC codes are used to identify lab results using a common vocabulary for data exchange/reporting.
