ALL,

1. I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO OPEN / LAUNCH A NOTE TITLE FROM THE
CPRS ORDERS MENU SYSTEM. IF LAUNCHING A SPECIFIC NOTE TITLE IS NOT
POSSIBLE, I WOULD ALTERNATIVELY LIKE TO BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THE
'PROGRESS NOTE PROPERTIES' DIALOG BOX FROM THE MENU SYSTEM. ANY IDEAS
--- IS THIS POSSIBLE ???

2. HOW DO I DEFEAT [TURN OFF] THE COPY/PASTE FUNCTIONALITY IN THE
CPRS NOTES TAB [TO PREVENT UNAUTHORIZED TEMPLATE USE].

3. IS THERE A WORK-AROUND AVAILABLE TO ALLOW A REMINDER DIALOG
TEMPLATE TO BE ATTACHED TO A CONSULT REQUEST FOR SERVICE?

4. ARE MOST CPRS MAIN ORDER MENU PAGES VENUE FOCUSED OR TASK ORIENTED?

5. IS THERE A COPY FUNCTION FOR REMINDER EXTRACT DEFINITIONS?

6. CAN YOU USE REMINDER CATEGORIES IN EXTRACT DEFINITIONS?

THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!!!!!!!

LOU

Wow. You are biting off a lot here. Could I talk you into not using
all CAPS? It is considered to be SHOUTING.

I can give some insight to #2. I don't think it is possible to turn
off the copy-n-past functionality of the notes window. This is
because Delphi is using a wrapper for a Windows component. And thus
Windows determines the functionality. The only way that I could think
this could be done would be to program a custom keyboard handler for
the application, and purposely ignore all CTRL-V key sequences.

But I have to say that being able to copy and paste is very important
for my as a physician. If you stopped my ability to do that on my
CPRS, I would be very unhappy!

I agree. This sounds akin to one of those Big Brother things that CCHIT hinted
at doing, requiring the identification of all sources of cut and pasted text.

To me, a health care provider is responsible for what he/she signs and this
tracking initiative just looks like a lot of fodder being generated for
lawyers. Blocking cut and paste altogether is potentially even worse.

If the goal is to improve care and documentation, why do one more thing to
make health care providers try to find careers doing something else other than
take care of patients?

Unfortunately, I am the 'implementer' not the 'decider' :-)

I was told that an app exists with the capability to D/C MS copy/paste
functionality when CPRS is running. If I get a working copy I will
post it.

How about #7. Is it possible to have all orders written for all
patients in a specific location 'copied' to that location's printer.
EX: All orders on ED patients print to the ED clerk's printer??

As part of being the implementer, you need to say: this is a very bad
idea. I have dealt with enough bureaucrats; if they want to shoot
themselves in the foot, resign and have them do it themselves instead
of you doing it for them. If you don't, they will blame you.

The answer to #7 is yes.

CPRS > PE > PR > LO.

Answers to 1-6:
1. No you can't without custom coding.
2. Very bad idea. The doctors will kill you first.
3. I think you can; the same way you do notes that are reminder dialogs.
4. CPRS menus are very configurable. They are what you make of them.
Generic ones for office-based tasks; order sets for surgeries,
specialized ones for other departments.
5. & 6. I don't know what reminder **extract** definitions are. Are
you sure you are using the right terminology?

Thanks !!!

Reminder extracts are essentailly turbocharged / automated reminder
reports [^XM at my facility].

My 'commanders' are never unclear about my position on any topic, but
at the end of the day I have to respect the unified chain of
command.

Thanks again !!!!
