CPRS will not launch.  The CPRS Shortcut Target is set to: C:\Vista\CPRS\CPRSChart.exe s=LOCALHOST p=9000

When double-clicking I get the following error:
Error encountered: Function was connection lost
Error was: No error code returned.

When I launch the CPRSChart.exe I get the following error:
Error encountered
Function was: WSAConnectByName
Error was: WSACONNREFUSED - Connection Refused.

When I launch the previous version 1.0.30.75 on the same machine it allows me to get to the point where it says that it requires the client to be upgraded to .116 version.

Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Thank you!!

WSACONNREFUSED means that the server is not listening on the port you are attempting to connect to, or, there is some firewall issue.

Are you using a virtual machine with Linux or Cache or what exactly? If a VM, you may need to do some port forwarding.

Yes.  It's a Windows 2012 R2 VM.  Since it works with the previous version it's odd to me that I'd have to do that.

I shut down the windows firewall all the way and it still threw the same error.  I also configured the app to be allowed to run through the firewall...

If you are running this on a Windows VM, then are you using Cache or what exactly for the server side?

So have you checked to see if the Broker is running? For example:

Select RPC Broker Management Menu <TEST ACCOUNT> Option: rpc Listener Edit

Select RPC BROKER SITE PARAMETERS DOMAIN NAME: `1 SomeDomain.something

Select BOX-VOLUME PAIR: ROU:TRYCACHE//

BOX-VOLUME PAIR: ROU:TRYCACHE//

Select PORT: 9210//

PORT: 9210//

STATUS: RUNNING//

TYPE OF LISTENER: New Style//

CONTROLLED BY LISTENER STARTER: YES//

Or a line such as this in D ^%SS

6656 |TCP|9210 VADEMO2-18 %ZISTCPS 10706,566 8 Admin

Try using the IP address instead of LOCALHOST. The newer Winsock APIs no longer recognize the local HOSTS file as a valid source of addresses, and instead are 100% DNS dependent.

Wow! Herlan is still here! Guess VistA is like Hotel California.

Yeah,I'm here. Mostly watching, occasionally biting back a sarcastic remark. 😀

To clarify some of the broker issues I'm seeing, people need to be aware that Microsoft deprecated many of the Winsock APIs used in CPRS v29. CPRS v30 and v31 used progressively newer Broker Development Kits that use newer APIs to support IPv6 and better security. I can see where there will be issues for Windows emulators or other operating systems that haven't caught up to Microsoft or have implemented "standards" differently.

Others have suggested that the socket is not listening... if this is true you can test by simply using telnet to 127.0.0.1 9000
