Is there anyway to do this without going into fileman?

Thanks,

It might be possible if the appropriate business rule were in place to
allow it, for a specified user class, something like Chief, MIS.
That's not ordinarily the case, and isn't encouraged, since you'd lose
any record of the clinical importance of anything in that note and any
care decisions based on it. Definitely frowned upon. The option TIU
MAIN MENU MGR will get you to a point where the "delete" option is
available, but the business rule (or lack of it) prevents it. Not
sure if anything is hard-coded beyond that.

Better to put an adendum that says it was entered in error. It is considered
altering medical records to do that.

Thanks,

Yes, I understand that its not kosher in a production setting, but
this is for a simulation / demonstration.

A faint memory just stirred... I'm not a TIU developer, but did do a
lot of work on the Notes tab, so have a few brain cells involved.

I think I recall that the DELETE action was changed in TIU code some
time ago so that the document is actually put in a RETRACTED state.
It's no longer "publicly" viewable, but is "indefinitely discoverable
by HIMS", as the message tells you. So it isn't actually deleted,
even if you were to set up business rules to apparently allow it.

If just for a demo, then you can just delete if from Fileman. I know
you didn't want fileman, but that is the only way I know. No way to
do it from CPRS I strongly suspect.

But from a production system, don't ever modify a published note or
that's altering medical records. My insurance company states they
have the right not to cover a malpractice case if I am guilty of
altering the medical record.

I can confirm that the document is retracted, not deleted. If you are
in the Chief, MIS User Class, you can retract it, but you will always
see it.

If the note is altered in fileman, the signature line is scrambled.
It's a protection. I have never tried it, so don't take my word for
it.
