Currently there are about 200 vendors offering a variety of EHR (EMR)
software. Nine of these vendors (Meditech, Cerner, McKesson, Siemens,
CPSI, Epic, Healthcare Mgmt Systems, Healthland, Eclipsys) control
over 90% acute care hospital EHR systems. And the top three control
over 50% of instillations.

I'm sure that the 21st VistA Community Meeting next week includes
plans for: Astronaut, OpenVistA, vxVistA, CareShare CMS, WorldVistA,
VistA+, FIS/GT.M to band together to counteract Meditech, Cerner and
McKesson's dominance.
Also, will Microsoft be a game changer when it releases the Amalga
Hospital Information System 2009 in the USA?
