I am using TMG CPRS 11.4 Client with WV running at the back end. Till
now no major issues. I really like the Query GUI tool.
I found minor issue. We are dumping pts so data base is building.
In pt selection window the scroll bar does not move all the way to
bottom,it stops at 25%. Practically I don't see any big issue because
we search pt by last 4 or last name and it pulls pt nicely but still
the functionality of scroll should work
Thanks

Syed,

I don't think that TMG-CPRS changed that functionality. You are
talking about selecting a patient to open up in CPRS, right? That
technology is called an ORComboBox found in vanilla VA-CPRS. It is an
essentially infinite scrolling list. The control makes calls to the
server when it gets to the end of its internal list to get more data.
It typically is given only 40 names at a time. That way the list can
theoretically scroll through hundreds of thousands of names. So the
scroll bar is never going to truly represent the name displayed among
all names. But it doesn't work perfectly. I have had some
situations where it seems to get stuck in a list subset that doesn't
have the name I want. I have to close the selection box and then open
it up again. For some reason the ORComboBox doesn't trigger to get
more data like it should. Again, I don't think this is anything we
changed in TMG-CPRS.

So you are using the Query GUI tool? I made that but have never
really used it in our site. Our population is so small, that the best
way to find a name is to ask my receptionist the name of that patient
who is the sister of the blind guy who comes in with his dog,
Rover. :-) Anyway, I'm glad it is working for you. By the way, I
have been reminded recently that if you don't have George Timson's
latest Fileman patches installed, it won't work. I used some of his
newer hooks to do the serve searching.

Thanks Kevin
I love that Query tool. The Boolean logic is so cool in that GUI,
another cool thing is we can apply multiple Boolean logic in the same
way as we do in file man search. I can always use roll n scroll but
for users they don't like the roll n scroll part and I also don't want
them to rely on me for minor ( daily or weekly) reports, as I have lot
of things on my plates. For monthly reports I have created patient
list based on Reminders.
It is giving accurate result ( still testing). But it looks very
promising.

Syed, just to confirm -- are you using Astronaut VistA with the Query
Tool? It would be absolutely perfect for helping us make the most of
VistA for our hopsital site.

Did it load straight away after installing Astronaut VistA, or did you
have to make any changes to enable it? Did you have to download
FileMan updates for it to load (mind hangs before it reaches a log-on
screen, for example)? Or do these become an issue when putting
together reports?

Yes I am using Astronaut VistA with Query tool. When you install
Astronaut Client it installs 3 most important applications
1) CPRS Query tool
2) CPRS ( Tmg )
3) GUI Scheduling

All are working fine for me. I am running those in Centos. I installed
those on VMware.

CPRS Query tool working fine for me.
Kevin made another Query which I like the most. In the patient
selection screen where you search for patient ( where you enter
last, first or last 4 to search) just right of it there is a lens icon
with ?. It is easy to miss I hope in new release Kevin label it may be
he can label it as "K Query" :).
When you click on it , it will open a window where you can see Basic
and Adv search tabs.
In Basic Pt info, Note title, Visit and Linked CPT files can be
searched. In Advance you can search lot of files including Health
Factors, Immunizations, say if I want to know what pts received Dtap.
I can select V immunization then field "immunization" then operator
"=Equals" + search value "Dtap" and when you hit search it pulls all
your pts who were given Dtap. Another cool thing, if you want to query
two or more files just click on * it will add search from another file
with AND OR NOT options . It is really cool. You can also search value
in comments filed. You can try different combination to narrow your
search.

CPRS query tool has certain limitations but I have not find any
problem with that too. I need to configure VistA accordingly.

Now GUI Scheduling is another sweet tool which Sam helped. In Gui
scheduling you can also pull all visit reports for day or month
I also configured system so that It let users to email pt
appointments.

Speaking of search, I don't know if you have found the second way to
search with TMG-CPRS. I added the ability to quickly search for words
in all TIU Documents for a given patient.

From the [NOTES] tab, select menu Action->Search notes. As you type
words in, it very quickly searches for documents with the phrase
entered. The list of notes is displayed dynamically, and if you click
on one of the entries, it will show the note with the search term
highlighted.

After I created this, I found that CPRS already had something like
this built in, but that functionality is very slow in my opinion.

Anyway, you might want to check it out.
