 Hi All,
I have  installed cache in my system ,I need to connect remote server MUMPS data base,.
so I try to create ECP Data Server but it is not connecting.

can we need to install cache in remote server also ?
If it is needed ,is there any other  way to connect to remote MUMPS database without CACHE installation ?

Any suggestions will be helpful to us.

Thank You.

You have to have an instance of Cache on every machine you need to connect.

You don't say what version of MUMPS your remote database is running.  It appears that Cache still supports DDP for legacy connectivity to DSM and MSM.

Another option might be to import your routines and globals from the legacy system into Cache using the relevant compatibility mode then use ECP between two Cache systems.

In either case Intersystems support would be the best resource to help you in your work.

Define your definition of connect.

What is the remote server MUMPS data base?  Is it GT.M or Cache?

You also have to edit the ecp connections on the remote database server in Cache to allow the other systems to connect.  You can use an IP range or individual IPs or IP wildcards (like 10.11.12.*)

so you really need two things:  1) an ecp server in the ECP settings in Cache on the first machine that has the target FQDN or IP of the remote database server and 2) the remote database server has to allow the connection in the ECP settings on it.

I am suspicious that they want the local Cache client to connect to a remote GT.M database.  I do not believe ECP can be used to connect a Cache system to a non-Cache system.  But I might be mistaken as I only read about ECP and never actually set up an ECP cluster..

Yes, it must be Cache to Cache databases.  I don't know much about GT.M so I do not know if they have anything like ECP.

A Caché client connecting to a GT.M server would need to use the Open MUMPS Interconnect protocol (ISO/IEC 15851:1999). A GT.M client can connect to a GT.M server using GNP (GT.M Network Protocol).
