We have a requirement to integrate VistA M Code with a third party
integrating service (.aspx based web url and some parameters need to
pass as connection string to this url and output will be returned as
xml) . We are planning to use MGWSI Gateway for the same and passing
the GET paramaters to the URL and retrieving the XML output which
could be parsed in M Code.

Is this a suitable approach to integrate VistA M code with external
interfacing services(URL based) or some other better approach exist?

Something very similar to this is what we will be discussing at the VistA Technical Meeting at the end of this month in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania:

You can also send an HTTP request (GET or POST) and get a response
directly from VistA using the HTTP 1.0 client that is a part of the
Oncology package. As far as I can remember, the routine names start
from ONCX. The documentations is in the code. A demo is available as
well.
