AIM (https://docs.yottadb.com/Plugins/ydbaim.html) can now also manage cross references of subscripts. Previously it maintained cross-references of just node values and pieces of node values. The user documentation at https://docs.yottadb.com/Plugins/ydbaim.html#subscript-cross-references includes a small program that demonstrates how using subscript cross references can improve searching performance.

Using AIM to maintain cross references reduces the amount of code needed by applications, which in turn enhances their maintainability. AIM cross references can maintain statistics that can help applications optimize searches. Also, you don't need to know in advance which cross-references an application will need- with AIM, you can add a cross reference when you find you need it. You can also remove a cross reference when it is no longer needed.

The ydbinstall / ydbinstall.sh script can install or upgrade AIM under your YottaDB installation without modifying the YottaDB installation itself.

Please do use AIM and tell us now it works for you. If there are cross reference use cases that AIM does not serve, we would like to know about them. Thank you.
