Hello Everyone,
I already saw some old postings regarding this issue but maybe there
where some progress in the time between.

I want to add CCOW support to my app to synchronize Patient Context
with CPRS. I think the CCOW support for CPRS and VISTA is based on the
Vergence of sentillion.

Did someone already try to write a own client for the sentillion ccow
Server ? Is there a reason why it can't work ?

My app is based on java/openESB and there are HL7 bindings available,
so it should not be a big issue to create and read hl7 messages.

Thanks !

Philipp

CCOW does not look simple, and writing a complete implementation would
not be trivial. I had a quick look at the specs and decided that this
would not be a nice, quick weekend project. However, I saw no reason
why it would not technically be possible to write at least a partial
CCOW implementation.

For anyone interested in more information, http://www.hl7.org.au/CCOW.htm
seems to be a great starting point containing the standards and links
to helpful information.

CCOW in the VA is used with CPRS as part of the Sentillion Vergence
Locator as run on the clients. The CCOW vaults (servers) are the
dedicated servers that distribute the contexts. The application bases
need to be adapted to the way that Sentillion operates, but that is pretty
flexible and Linux-based. It uses a form of Webmin to manage the vaults
if that is a help.
