to Hardhats,
In the name of national security, HHS is looking to have federal government
have essentially unfettered access our electronic health records in the name
of national security. Someone sent me this link. I am already very unhappy
with HHS over QRDA I collection, but that is nothing compared to this plan.

It bothers me that as much as I think EHRs are a good thing, that the federal
government is inexorably advancing a plan to sit in the doctor's office with the
doctor and patient and more. The government not only want the information,
they want it in the format they choose and they want it about everything. If
you actually read the document, it is not until about line 866 that you really
realize the scope of what they are planning although there are hints about it
earlier. They actually refer to meaningful use in line 871 in the document
and it is clear that the plan is to further leverage meaningful use to
facilitate access. They also want to further gut HIPAA so it will not get in
their way - start at line 972 to see that.

Data=honey.  The goverment = bees.

They just can't stand to not get to it.

Not quite Kevin
Data=honey.  The government = bears.  They'll destroy anything to get to the honey.

Bees work hard to create the honey.  Not at all like the government.

Ha!  Good point.  Mixed metaphors and all that.

Thanks
Kevin
