This illustration is copied from the frontispiece to the Rupertsberg manuscript of Scivias, the name for which derives from the Latin phrase \"Sci Vias Domini\" (\"Know the ways of the Lord\"). Scivias was probably written around 1151 CE, and is one of three manuscripts produced by Hildegard on the subject of her visions.\r\n\r\nThe Rupertsberg manuscript is now lost, and only black-and-white photos are available. This illustration, and other color copies of the illustration, are based on a faithful copy that was made in the early 20th Century.","contentUrl":" ","copyrightNotice":"Eisenachercommonswiki - Public Domain - This item is in the public domain, and can be used, copied, and modified without any restrictions.","creator":"@type":"Person","name":"Eisenachercommonswiki","creditText":"Eisenachercommonswiki / Wikipedia","dateModified":"2023-12-01T21:46:36+0000","datePublished":"2019-04-17T05:19:43+0000","encodingFormat":"image/jpeg","headline":"Illustration of Hildegard of Bingen from Scivias","height":600,"isAccessibleForFree":true,"isBasedOn":"@type":"CreativeWork","url":" :Hildegard_von_Bingen.jpg","isFamilyFriendly":true,"isPartOf":" ","license":" _domain","mainEntityOfPage":" -of-hildegard-of-bingen-from-scivias/","publisher":" ","representativeOfPage":false,"url":" -of-hildegard-of-bingen-from-scivias/","width":410
