Hi

I want to ask for advice about the report generator for harbour.


How to compile?

Hi,
you can refer to the "Linking & Registration" section of the documentation.

a simple example for lib mingw (check out my current folder):
D:\Desenv\frx>
hbmk2 eric.prg -lxaFrhMin -lversion -Llib

to run, you only need frx.dll in the application folder. No installation or configuration required.

if you have reports printing as in Clipper (or via utility), and want a conversion for native use:

just info that Fastreports are now open source.


Maybe this means something to someone on this forum :-)

Just to note that DotNet version of FastReposrts is now OpenSource.
Delphi version, wich is used in late Seregys FRH and Xailer FRX, is not.

Can you please share an example of using FRX in xHarbour ? I am using FRX with Xailer. So I have access to Xaiiler FRX.

FRX\SOURCE - Contains an example for [x]Harbour/console.
XAILER\SAMPLES\FASTREPORT - Contains a project with many examples (it helps in any environment)

This Fast-Report looks like a spitting image *meaning a copy of) of the report writer VFP (Visual FoxPro) has.
VFP introduced more than 15 years ago the FRX/FRT files (which are actually DBF/FPT)

It's funny how programmers waste time with opinions, a lot of useless and meaningless information. It gets more ridiculous when the "prophets of technology and about the future" appear, subjects repeated for more than 15 years ... (Web x Desktop, OS A x B, database A x B).

Yes but in VFP it was royalty free, and free to include in any programs you created in VFP.
Microsoft released the FRX report writer engine for free use and open-source. See the github repo I mentioned.
